FOP Logo Usage

Rules for Use of F.O.P. Trademark

The Fraternal Order of Police, Grand Lodge owns the federal registration or trademark for the FOP logo star, the Fraternal Order of Police Scroll, and the words "Fraternal Order of Police." Use of these items by any entity other than indicating membership in an affiliated lodge requires the permission of the Grand Lodge. Requests for permission should be submitted to the National Secretary.

Generally, when permission to the use of the logo or name are for a non-profit purpose permission is granted on a royalty-free basis. In situations where a state or local lodge wants to utilize the mark for "for-profit" purposes, a royalty would be charged. Typical examples where permission would require a royalty include the FOP insignia on clothing or to endorse a product or service. All THIRD party entities requesting use of the mark are required to secure license agreements from the Grand Lodge.

Important note: Any FOP Merchandise sold on EBay by FOP members could result in liability for damages and expulsion from the Order.

For details on mark usage and regulation, refer to the Grand Lodge Constitution and By-Laws, Article 1, Section 2-3 and Article 8, Section 3.
