Legislative

The House and Senate will again be in Session this week. There are Committees scheduled to meet but as we have discussed, most of the Legislative action will be after the March 19th Primary.

The main focus of Session this week will be Governor Pritzker’s annual Budget/State of the State Address on Wednesday to a Joint Session of the General Assembly.  It is expected that the Governor will stress the success of his Administration’s policies and seek a fiscally moderate budget for the next fiscal year.  The booming tax receipts of the last couple of years combined with Covid funding have afforded Illinois government a path to greater fiscal stability.  There are some signs that the Governor will propose a more conservative based budget for the next year as they look at the fiscal outlook.  We shall see.  Reports indicate that the Governor will propose more money for the influx of asylum seekers in Illinois.

Below please find the list of bills that we are currently watching for you. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns about any of these issues.  Thanks.
